Personal experience
One of the tattoo design I have is on the back of my neck. I select to get a butterfly tattoo design which may cliched to some, but I liked this particular butterfly tattoo design due to attributable to the eyes. It's a tribal butterfly tattoo and the eyes look like they're viewing you. To me, it represents someone having my back and looking out for me. The only agonizing encounter of neck tattoo was when the tattooist removed the body art stencil after she put it on my neck. We checked out the position of tattoo design on the back of the neck in the reflection and it seemed off. My tattooist took massaging liquor to eliminate the tattoo from my neck. This stung because she shaved the little hair around my hairline before placing the stencil on my neck. Fortunately, when she put it on my neck the second time the positioning was perfect!
A neck tattoo design can be risky to your profession. If you execute at a company job or office that frowns upon body art; your managers may not appreciate tattoo on your neck.
